UVizIT is highly experienced with model frameworks
commonly used to organize enterprise architectures into different views
that are meaningful to system stakeholders.
Our EA approach
provides a consistent design that supports the business entity as it responds
to market dynamics, including the various structures and processes of
the entity. We methodically depict the organization both as
it is today and as it is envisioned in the future, and map the various
views representing the architecture in terms of business-oriented
perspectives as well as technical perspectives.
As EA emerges as a common practice, we integrate in our workshop the the CIO Council's federal enterprise
architecture framework (FEAF) and the major IT industry EA models
(e.g., Zackman Framework, Enterprise Information Systems Architecture
(EISA), Altos Origin’s, DoDAF, etc.).
Using a tools-based approach with
industry best practices and techniques enables us to make the
interaction with users a unique experience that provides radical
advantages:
Cost savings: With EA, we
streamline project oversight processes to capture metrics, evaluate
investments, reduce turnover cost, implement standards to ensure
system-wide compatibility of technologies, and modernize technology
infrastructure.
Regulatory compliance: For
instance, the Clinger-Cohen Act requires federal agencies to implement
and use EA to manage IT investments and federal information
systems. Implementing an EA model is the best way for each
federal agency to comply with regulations.
Technology Inter-operability: With
EA, we consistently implement standards across an organization to
ensure technology components remain compatible over time.
Effective communication: UVizIT
understands that in many ways, EA models are a communication bridge
between business stakeholders and IT professionals. Our EA
representations can be interpreted for various users in a consistent
manner.
Consistent blueprints: UVizIT
understands that a well-designed architecture separates success from
failure for large and complex information systems. We use object-oriented engineering software to
provide high quality models, system blueprints, and prototypes.
Closing gaps: UVizIT efficiently
identifies improvement opportunities that are present between the
current and the desired future organizational structure. From our
findings, we provide guidance and support for each IT organization to implement customized changes.
